Well the video is undoubtedly creative. I have many little notebooks like the one in the video full of little notes and drawings. The video is humorous and maybe a bit cynical but there is some deeper truth to the part about the muse.

I tend to think a lot of ideas are your subconscious/your gut communicating its desires with you. Because everything we do is something that we believe will benefit our happiness and survival, and they always say to trust your gut- your innermost, naked self. But who knows, maybe it is some deity or higher being giving us instructions on how to achieve inner peace. The more you know about the world and the universe, the more you don't know, y'know?

So my real answer is.. I don't know. I don't think anybody does, all we have are theories and best guesses. Nobody truly knows where they come from, if they are our own, or what they are. Regardless, they are a beautiful gift, and I consider myself lucky to be conscious and creative.

Me as well. When you mention the innermost self and "trusting your gut", I think of what we call instinct which could be connected to ideas now that you mention it. Instinct is another interesting topic(with another eye-catching Tesla quote lol) and something that seems to make your life better the more you let it steer your decisions.

Decision making(instinct) and creativit(ideas) are not that different now that you made me think about it.

I think ideas are a combination of needs, desires and personal outlooks on life, maybe some are just one of the 3 and not all at the same time, i think it varies from idea to idea.

We think of stuff to fulfill something, be it a need or simply to not be bored (wich i guess it'd be under desire) and then we guide that idea through our own moral compass.

I wonder what "desires" led to your art. ;) Well you have an interesting perspective too, maybe I'd call it more secular.
